EXPO INOX ACCELERATES ITS EUROPEAN EXPANSION: FOUR ACQUISITIONS IN THREE YEARS AND A NEW HUB IN GROPELLO CAIROLI

From Italian company to pan-European flue systems group

The Pavia-area hub becomes the operational and digital nerve centre of a 500-strong workforce.

At a time when many companies talk about internationalisation, Expo Inox is putting it into practice — and on a significant scale. Over the past three years, the company, a leading manufacturer of flue systems for residential, industrial and commercial applications, has carried out a European expansion strategy few can match in the sector.

The strategy is clear: grow through targeted acquisitions, preserving local expertise while centralising coordination, technology and vision.

Four strategic moves across three countries

lready established in France and Turkey through its two Tubest brands, Expo Inox has expanded its presence in the United Kingdom with the acquisition of A1 Flues System, based in Nottingham and a long-standing name in the British industrial flue systems market.

Germany came next, with the addition of Steegmüller Kaminoflex, based in Villingen in the Black Forest — a notoriously demanding market. This was followed by Spain, with Viuda, based in Valencia, and then another UK acquisition: Midtherm, based in Birmingham, a major player in terms of both production volumes and market reach.

Four companies, four different manufacturing cultures, one unified group.

The nerve centre remains in Italy: Gropello Cairoli

The most significant move, however, has taken place not abroad, but within Italy itself.

In Gropello Cairoli, in the province of Pavia, Expo Inox has developed a multifunctional hub that has become the group’s operational headquarters. It is much more than a logistics or administrative centre.

Gropello is now home to a production and commercial coordination team tasked with connecting all the group’s European sites, harmonising standards and driving innovation.

At the heart of this operation lies the group’s technological hub: an IT and software centre developed entirely in Gropello, managing processes, data and integration across the acquired companies.

Today, approximately 110 employees across the group’s Italian sites coordinate a total workforce of 500 people throughout Europe. This ratio speaks volumes about the strategic importance Gropello has assumed within the group’s operations.

From a manufacturing district to a pan-European command centre, Expo Inox demonstrates that it is possible to become a multinational group without relocating its operational and technological core. On the contrary, by strengthening it.

Expo Inox has not shifted its centre of gravity away from Italy. It has made it stronger, creating a solid foundation for continued growth across Europe.

THE NEW INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IN GROPELLO CAIROLI AND ITS INTEGRATED LOGISTICS

Expo lnox also aims to achieve excellence in delivery speed and customer service, starting with the Italian market

When Expo Inox started producing zero-maintenance stainless steel products for the construction industry in 1993, its approach to sustainability was 30 years ahead of its time and is now widespread and regulated. The same far-sightedness guides the decision to build a new industrial site in Gropello Cairoli (Pavia) with integrated logistics, so as to come close in service standards to the excellence of modern online trade.
“The paradox that the professional world is experiencing is this,” explains Mauro Travini, president of Expo Inox, “to be competing with e-commerce even for technical products such as a chimney, a fence or a gate. It happens…
